Arts and Crafts Bathroom

Renovation of a bathroom and cloakroom in a four bedroomed Arts and Crafts home in Heaton Moor, Stockport.  The home had been renovated over time but the family bathroom and downstairs WC had never been touched and were in need of a design refresh to give them a feel more in keeping with the rest of the house.

In the family bathroom we focused on creating a subtle scheme which was stylish but practical for a family of four and which made better use of the space than the existing. The design of the downstairs cloakroom created a similarly subtle feel and offered an opportunity to utilise William Morris pattern to embrace the Arts and Crafts era of the house.

The design used pared-colour on the walls, combined with a blue patterned floor. The centrepiece of the room is the new traditional-style free standing bath and the opportunity was taken to add a significant amount of storage with a double vanity as well as niche shelving in both the shower and bath areas. To avoid creating an overly traditional and fussy feel, more modern brassware was used throughout as well as large format marble-style porcelain tiles in the large walk-in shower.
